How MELVO handles information.

This notice explains how the MELVO website, Recipes and Mapper handle personal data. Contact support@getmelvo.com with questions or requests.

Who is responsible?

MELVO is operated through Ivo Ladenius’s registered sole proprietorship under the trade name MELVO.

Information used by the products

Recipes can store an email address and display name for an account, recipe titles, source links, ingredients, instructions, tags, favourites, boards, meal plans, shopping-list selections, nutrition results and recipe images.

Mapper can store board names, saved places, dates, notes, itinerary items, photos, device name/identifier and access or share tokens. Public sharing only exposes content that the owner marks as shareable.

Both products create technical records needed for authentication, rate limiting, security, error handling and abuse prevention. Passwords are not stored; access and recovery tokens are stored as hashes where applicable.

Why and where information is processed

The information is used to provide saved recipes, maps, accounts, sharing, imports, translations, nutrition calculations, support and security controls.

The services run on Cloudflare Workers, D1 databases and R2 object storage. Recipes can use Cloudflare Workers AI for extraction and translation, FoodData Central for nutrition lookups, Resend for account email and Stripe for web payments, billing records and subscription status. Mapper can use OpenStreetMap/CARTO map tiles, Nominatim geocoding and the configured routing provider. These providers process the request data needed for their service.

The corporate website does not use advertising trackers. Recipes may load optional analytics only after consent; Cloudflare still processes ordinary technical request data for hosting and security.

Legal basis, storage and your choices

MELVO uses information to provide the requested account and product features, to meet security and abuse-prevention interests, and—where required—to act on consent. No health diagnosis or medical profiling is intended; dietary labels in Recipes are broad recipe characteristics, not medical advice.

Account content is kept until you delete it or ask us to remove it, subject to backups, security records and legal obligations. For technical, activity, device and security records, MELVO’s policy target is no longer than 12 months where necessary; some current cleanup jobs delete or anonymise records after 90 days. Recipes sessions are designed to expire after 30 days; verification and recovery links expire sooner. Mapper keeps a deleted board recoverable for 30 days.

You can ask for access, correction, export or deletion by emailing support@getmelvo.com. Include the product, account email and the request you want handled. Never email passwords or access tokens. Where a request concerns a public share, we may need to verify ownership before changing it.

Children and international users

MELVO is intended for people aged 13 and over. Where local law requires parental consent for a younger user (including users under 16 in some EU countries), MELVO will require that consent before processing. MELVO is not directed at children under 13.

MELVO is intended for users worldwide. The final notice will identify the countries and safeguards that apply when information is transferred outside the user’s country, including any adequacy decision, standard contractual clauses or supplementary measures.

Processors and international data

Cloudflare hosts Workers, D1, R2, Durable Objects and security services. Recipes may send feature requests to Cloudflare Workers AI, USDA FoodData Central, Resend and Stripe; Mapper may request map tiles, geocoding and routing from its configured providers. Each provider processes the minimum data needed for its service and may process data outside the EEA under an applicable transfer mechanism.

You may lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or another competent supervisory authority. For questions about processors, transfers or a suspected data breach, contact support@getmelvo.com.
